Scarlet

This is Scarlet.
Meet Scarlet, my first ever pet snake.
She is a Darwin Carpet python or Northern Carpet python, Morelia spilota variegata.

For a first snake, I could not of asked for any better.

Darwins have a reputation to be "snappy" especially as juveniles, but I hit it lucky with this girl. Never bitten, never refused a feed and AWESOME colors.

Her home is a 3X2X2.5 tank with breeders choice cat litter as a substrate, a cave, some rocks, 2 vines with Spanish moss on them, only for a more appealing look on my behalf.

Some people would say, no need for vines, hard to clean, not many trees in Darwin, plants can carry bugs and diseases etc, personally, so far so good. I have never cleaned them, she LOVES sitting along the vines stretched out, I even have some photos where she is sitting like a Green tree python (GTP) but the photos are not the best.

I feed all my snake rats which are pre killed and warmed up to a little above room temperature, and spray them with a Vitamin supplement just incase, for my own piece of mind.
I like to think it as the "condom factor" I would rather have one and not need it, than need it and not have one.
